Hand-painted ceramics Tuscan decorations

TUSCANY POTTERY:

Centuries of experience, the practice of difficult techniques, the love for craftsmanship are the secret behind the most beautiful and typical creations of the Tuscan territory.
The history of ceramics in this green region of hills and vineyards begins about two thousand years ago. It was the ancient Tuscan peoples who, between the Etruscan and Roman times, began to work pottery and utensils in earthenware and clay, developing increasingly modern and refined burning and coloring techniques. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the entire area saw the development of Tuscan ceramic art through the birth of numerous specialized shops and the pottery produced became famous and refined.
There are numerous techniques used for the processing of clay and earthenware. From the time of the Etruscans until today, you can admire the “bucchero” technique, the Arezzo “sealed soil” one, the Roman “glazed earthenware” one, the medieval “engobed” one, the “glazed” and “majolica” Renaissance ones. These are glossy, red or white colored ceramics with the typical Tuscan decorations of flowers and fruits.
Tuscan ceramics remains one of the most popular even today with names recognized and loved all over the world for the value of the colors, designs and the finest workmanship of dishes and furnishings.
The places where it has reached its greatest development are some of the most popular historic cities in the region. In fact, we talk about Florence (FI) itself, one of the most beautiful cities rich in history in the world, but also Pisa (PI) , Arezzo (AR) , Siena (SI) and the entire valley of Valdarno.
