Castelli's ceramic is of the so-called "majolica" type due to its opaque glass coating. Each decoration requires a particular color of glaze which is obtained by mixing mineral colors in the majolica. In the Simonetti workshop the decoration is still done entirely by hand. Majolica comes to life through the art of skilled highly specialized decorators who create the most refined decorations of the Castellana ceramic tradition. For over five centuries, ceramic has been worked with traditional techniques, handed down from father to son for generations.
